What 2019 Has in Store For Computer Gaming

There Are Some Promising Titles Set to Be Released in 2019

New games are being released on a constant basis. Moreover, marketing material is released about those new games on a constant basis, serving to build up hype in interested individuals that will translate into sales. As a result, it should come as no surprise to learn that there is a fair amount of information out there about what consumers can expect from computer gaming in 2019.

What Are Some Examples?

For instance, Bioware is set to release Anthem in 2019, which is a shooter in the style of the Destiny franchise rather than an RPG like its usual fare. However, what is even more interesting is the rumor that this could be a make-or-break case. Simply put, Bioware’s Mass Effect: Andromeda was not well-received, so there are people suggesting that EA will be pulling its plug should its next big project fail as well in the same manner that EA has pulled the plug on numerous other studios before it. Considering that Anthem will be going up against an established competitor in its own niche, that means a lot of pressure, which to be fair, has been known to produce true gems from time to time.

Moving on, Bioware’s Anthem isn’t the sole high-stakes project set to be released in 2019, as shown by Capcom’s Devil May Cry 5. In short, Devil May Cry 5 won’t be a continuation of 2013’s Devil May Cry reboot but rather 2008’s Devil May Cry 4 because of the reboot’s rather mixed reception. As a result, it seems safe to say that the performance of Devil May Cry 5 could very well decide the fate of the hack and slash franchise as a whole, which is why its fans might want to pay close attention. Meanwhile, 4A Games’s Metro: Exodus is set to see something of a change-up from its predecessors in that its protagonist will be venturing out into the open of post-apocalyptic Russia. Assuming that it combines the atmospheric mood as well as the varied challenges of its predecessors with bigger, more dynamic environments, it could turn out very impressive indeed.

Of course, there are other computer games worth mentioning that are expected to be released in 2019. Some such as Cyberpunk 2077 and The Division 2 are well-known, whereas others such as Shenmue III and Wasteland 3 are more obscure. There are even some surprises such as Unsung Story, which is set to be released in 2019 after years and years of being considered one of the more notable crowdfunded disasters in gaming history
